Lets get Quizzical

As I am a part of the Now What creative collective, we organised a quiz to raise MORE and More money for the external show. Support!

The Design Museum

The Design Museum is the new thing. A bit small and crowded. New Old exhibition was very interesting, calling on issues of today about ageing, technology, social media.

A bunch of inpiration for 'Write It'

Colour Pallette

Joseph

Stella Mcartney

Inspiration on fashion from Stella Mcartney and Josepf fashion brands, this is in terms of pattern and colour, as I have posted a colour pallete which I was using, above. The first bag is inspiring in terms of how symbols are used in an accessory industry as well as how the alphabet is used in knitwear clothing.

Haris Epaminonda - Rodeo Gallery

Been to this exhibition by the Cypriot artist, Haris Epaminonda. I find inspiring the way she works and the media she uses. All her work is done using found images and objects. Pictures of flowers and plants, which she names (found names) framed, together with the beautiful aesthetics of the surroundings make a great exhibition.

Potato Print

Experimentation process- use potato prints to print letters on paper, was quite unsuccessful but fun.

Brockwell Lido Drawing

As a part of my research for the Write it project I tried to find a pool in London, mission impossible. The most interesting and accessible was Brockwell Lido. I took various photographs of the place, made drawings, collages and made patterns of waters and trees, green and blue.

Pinterest Inspo- Write it

Searching Pinterest I have found some inspiration for my write it project. Letters and words in art and design, pool textile prints, words in chlorine waters, pool shapes.

and this is a link to some books I found helpful and inspiring which refer to visuals of pools.

Menier Gallery VS Protein Studios

Menier Gallery

VS

Protein Studios

Finding a venue for the external show has been an extra concern on dissertation period. As a group we have visited the Menier Gallery but not all were satisfied so we have seen the options of renting Protein Studios, which was much more pricey but for me it was worth it.  Protein Studios is a white open space in Shoreditch, very fresh and suitable for creative people who have ambitions and ideas to make the space their own, with the Now what identity. Whereas Menier Gallery is a much more traditional gallery of bricks, looks smaller and has a particular identity on its own. Unfortunately though the majority of the group have voted for Menier.

Natar Georgiou Show

Natargeorgiou is a fashion brand of cypriot designers, who make clothing, inspired by the cypriot way of weaving, and are eventually making their way to Paris Fashion Weeks and international magazines. I have attended their show this Christmas break back at home and it was very impressing, considering cypriot standards in culture and design.

Screenshoting dissertation

2 days before hand in I have put everything into a word document. I have screenshoted the document as the most satisfactory action I could have done at that moment as my reward.

Letterpress Workshop- Write it

Today I have experimented with letterpress, since applying letters the traditional way on paper is too time consuming as I realized, I have done some quick experimentation with different sized letters, the rollers and letterpress ornaments. One more option for experimentation has opened up.

Feminist Avant Garde - Photographer's Gallery

On the way of finishing my dissertation I have found out an exhibition about feminist artists was on at Photographer's Gallery. Works of most artists and examples I have mentioned in my study like Cindy Sherman, Hannah Wilke and more, were displayed in the space, completely relevant to what I am about to submit in a few days, an 8000 word dissertation.

Book Making- Write it

These are some books, showing what a book can be,  in the form of dictionaries, catalogues, ledgers, in full text or without text. The book of labyrinths was quite interesting, in terms of how many different things you can do using one word. Inspired by these, more ideas are generated for experimentation in my 'Write it' project.

Jacquemus

                                                               http://jacquemus.com/

Jacquemus is one of the most inspiring designers I have been following this last year, his work is very unique and different to most of the well-known brands, due to its minimalistic forms and shapes, its contrasting colours, the pale shirt colours in combination with the vibrant oranges, and polka dots.

Donna Huanca- Zabludowicz Collection

Donna Huanca @ Zabludowicz Collection

Performance was very experimental- the body painting was as a wearable textile print, which was supported by the second room in the exhibition.
