Georges Perec - Species of Spaces

https://arquivodeemergencia.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/perec-species-of-spaces.pdf

This is  piece of experimental writing by Georges Perec, french writer, related in my course project, I think it is very interesting in the way he combines unrelated words and makes them make sense, creating new meanings and multiple meanings. Very simple but descriptive, very dry but yet strongly awakening the senses of space and time. I am inspired by the simplicity and unique way he described objects,

Frieze Art Fair 16

SOME INTERESTING WORK HAS BEEN EXHIBITED AT FRIEZE THIS YEAR. Frieze Masters has been exceptionally good with some more contemporary work.

this photo has been on the Instagram page @infrontofart

Being a fashion critic around Regents Park, as Frieze has many interesting personalities walking around especially at 10-11 where the VIPs can have access.

Letterpress for Course Project

Experimentation of letterpress
It is fun even though I think screen printing almost has the same look on as the letterpress but it is perfect when you are aiming to play with text on the page and be experimental with layout.

Gucci's Campaign in Tokyo - Sound Text

INTERESTING HOW THIS FASHION CAMPAIGN HAS INCLUDED FICTION I A SERIES OF IMAGES THAT COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER BUT MOST OF THE TIMES ARE PRESENTED SEPARATELY. In this campaign what I also think is very unique is the use of caption as in a french movie which describes sound, a very 'to the point' text just to put the viewer in the climax of the image.

IF

If it wasn't for this I wouldnt be the same person.
I feel that Cyprus, its colours, nature, architecture have shaped my style as an artist.
the things I like
my colour scheme
the things I am attracted visually
the objects I like using
the shapes
the feel
the people
the touch
the landscape
I find myself very often relating anything to my home country.

LET'S BUILD OUR OWN TOWN

let's build a town

This summer I have worked for a kindergarten school in Cyprus in their summer school which lasted a month. The children had their own teachers but I was in charge of the creative part of the process, where they had to build their own town out of cardboard. We first made drawings of the town as they imagined it, worked with images as well and then in their teams started making. The program was more practical, with lots of painting and making of objects. I helped with the ideas but let them free to express theirself as they liked. Their age was 5-8 which was very hard to understand and cope with them to work, as their concentration was limited. Their purpose was to have fun so there was no pressure for them to create. We ended up making a kiosk, a bakery, an ice cream shop, a few houses, a cultural centre, a building and a flower shop. At the end of it we organised an event, promoting it on a facebook page and inviting friends and families, the children took their roles in their own town and had a super amazing time. It was a new experience for me working with children and very challenging as it is very different from working with adults where you are in the same position sharing ideas and having the same goals, the communication skills you need to develop are very different. I have to admit I learned a lot and it was quite satisfying in the end when I saw all the children having fun in their own work being engaged in it.

JEFF KOONS now

NOW

It was the first time I am seeing Jeff Koons work live.
I must say it was quite a different experience from seeing other artists work in a gallery.
the difference of the flat image of his work to the real thing was much bigger than any other works of art maybe due to the scale they all have and their relation to the human who is the viewer.
I feel Jeff Koon's work is not destined to exist in a gallery, his art would be interesting to see in real life concepts and situations since they all are real life objects which are recreated, in scale material and purpose.

DIYing FASHION in Soho

These are some of the things we managed to do in a few days.
by making wholes to small pieces of plastic
using strings to attach them together
turning them into bosy shapes
wearing them in different ways
cutting up pieces of paper
and using other pieces to attach them together
making rain ponchos out of plastic bags
and modeled them on Ita.

This project has made me realise that you can make art out of anything.
Not that I wasn's aware of it (a tendency of mine to look at the art in everything and turn everything into art) but in this project I have put it into practice.
The result has been very experimental but at the same time I think succesful as this could be turned into 'real' fashion.
